I had to go downtown to arm-twist a few people for my day job, and was heading inbound. As we passed the park, the train stopped and just sat there. At some point the driver said something, but no one could hear over the little speakers.
As it turned out, there’d been an accident on Duboce and Fillmore. According to eyewitnesses on the scene, the car was attempting a left turn onto Fillmore when it seemed to hesitate, then careened out of control, hitting a tree which caused it to spiral and flip over.
People who rushed to the aid of the driver indicated it seemed as if they had some sort of seizure, which caused the car to lose control. However, because the driver had a seatbelt on, and the car didn’t collapse on them, they seemed to be ok (i.e. they didn’t die).
I am just glad no one got killed, and that people didn’t just stand around, but tried to help. Still, after seeing how people often drive or walk or bike in this city as if they’re in some sort of a fog, I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often.

UPDATE: One of the witnesses provides some more info and some photos on Flickr as well. If I wasn’t in such a rush, I would have interviewed more folks. Thanks for the info!
