It’s 2025! Yay?
I’m not sure what will be happening this year, but I will be posting all sorts of things at the NJC+ – the Substack newsletter I’ve been trying out for the past year. It’s been a mixed bag – it is very easy to use, and it has some nice features for writers, but it also has some other issues that make me wonder if I should move to another system , or even back to this WordPress install, even with all the headaches
In addition, I still have an Instagram account where I post random pictures from around town, although I will be scaling back posts there as I look for an alternative, or retreat back to Flickr (!) where I still have an account (these days more of an Internet archaeological site)
I also have an account on Bluesky and one on SFBA.Social (Mastodon server) , although I don’t really post a lot besides links to Substack and Instagram, as well as “reposts” of interest.
I left Twitter long before current ownership, and while Bluesky and Mastodon are fun sometimes, they also have the same inherent problems all short form social media services have – the addiction to the feed, an inability to process nuance or subtlety, etc. But if there’s some breaking news, like an earthquake, then I will likely post there.
So far 2025 has had a rough start. Let’s hope it gets a little less rough this year. Thanks for reading!
