The SFCTA Needs You!

Ah, the San Francisco County Transit Agency, described by a sage scribe as MUNI’s successful younger sibling. First we heard the news about work finally beginning on the Irving and 9th/Judah and 9th intersections, and soon afterwards, MUNI Chief Nate Ford started arguing he should be able to drink their milkshakes and take their money. Woo hoo!
This afternoon, I got an email announcing new vacancies for the SFCTA’s Citizens Advisory Committee. It seems that there are quite a few vacancies, esp. in the districts which represent the N-Judah line (and oh yeah, one in District 11 too).
Full details after the jump. If you’ve got the time and want to be able to weigh in on such issues as the Central Subway (!) and the like, well here’s a chance to join up and get involved!

We are looking for a few good people to apply for the San Francisco County Transportation Authority’s Citizens Advisory Committee! Interested in the Transbay Terminal? Central Subway? Safer streets and sidewalks? Bike lanes? Over the past decade the CAC has helped the Authority Board guide the investment of nearly $1 billion in transportation funds into projects that improve mobility for all.
Your voice is needed on the CAC. Help us plan for the future of transportation in San Francisco.
There are currently 4 vacancies on the Authority’s Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The Plans & Programs Committee will be considering the incumbent(s) and applicants to fill these vacancies by March. The CAC consists of eleven members representing each district. We are lacking representation in D4, D5, D7, D9, for D11. We are also looking for ethnic diversity on the CAC.
The Authority accepts applications on a continuous basis. Applicants are required to attend one of the Authority’s Plans and Programs Committee meetings to speak on their own behalf. Note that appearing before the committee is a prerequisite for appointment, though not a guarantee. The Committee will then make recommendations for appointments to the full Authority Board of Commissioners, which makes the final decision. New applicants will be notified about the time and location of these meetings. Once your application is received, it will remain active for two years. Your application will be considered for any openings, unless you submit a letter withdrawing your candidacy. You must be a San Francisco resident.
Current Plans & Programs Committee members are: Commissioners Dufty (Chair), Peskin (Vice Chair), Alioto-Pier, Daly, and Maxwell.
