It’s not a state secret that I’m a fan of the Blackthorn Tavern, or that this place is the official home away from home of the N-Judah Chronicles. That said, this is big news, and it’s worth an unsolicited blog post: the fact that the Blackthorn Tavern is one of the few places to have the special commerative 250th Anniversary Guinness on TAP!
Although said tap could not be tapped until 9pm on Friday, I got a small taste of this special beer and it’s pretty good. I had a mini beer as it as it cooled in one of the few places that even had a keg, and it was good – California being apparently the first place to have it, and here I was, in one of the first bars in California who had it. In the Inner Sunset. How cool is that?
It was definitely different from the regular Guinness – more of a porter than a stout – but it was still good!
Few bars will have this for the next few months. So for now, get thee to the Blackthorn, order a pint of this special brew (which is only offered in America, Australia and Singapore!) and tell them the N-Judah Chronicles sent you. You’ll support a local bar run by the nicest people around, and get a special taste of a special Irish brew!

Well color me jealous, I think I’ll have to try me one of these.
Argh, I was in there this past Saturday for a quick drink (…or two) and wasn’t aware that they had it.
I’m more a Durty Nelly’s guy myself, but they’re closer to my neck of the Golden Gate Park woods.
