Two events are being held this weekend that should be of interest to those who live along the N Judah line, one here in the Inner Sunset, and one on the T-Third line.
First, there is the inimitable Trolley Dances, which will be held this year on October 17th-18th. The cost is simply that of the normal fare you’d pay upon boarding the T-Third LRV at Mission Bay, and will take you to Bayview-Hunter’s Point, where additional venues will host performances on or near the T-Third line.
This has been a favorite of mine for years, ever since I first wrote about their performance in 2006 on our own N-Judah line. I do not know if I will make it to this year’s show, but if you can go, especially with the weather being this nice, you should.
Also, on Sunday, October 18th, the Inner Sunset Park Neighbors are doing another “close Irving between 9th and 10th” event (aka Inner Sunset Sundays). The Inner Sunset Flea Market will be held from 11am-5pm so you can expect to see all sorts of things for sale from neighbors, etc. and these events tend to be very kid-friendly so there will likely be some activities as well.
I know that closing Irving between 9th-10th is one of those things that get the NIMBY/NextDoor angry posters all in a knot, but really, it’s a good thing. It sure as heck calms traffic down on a busy Sunday, and it’s a nice way for people in the neighborhood to get together in a common area. We don’t have a lot of little parks like some areas do, so these events, along with the Inner Sunset Farmer’s Market make a nice Sunday that much nicer. Besides, it’s not like one has to get to a Niners game in a rush these day, right lol?
